YEEHAW! check this out ladies - got some super duper exciting news for you!
OUAS June Guest Designer
Yup! that's ME can you believe it! Never in a million years did it enter my mind to even dream of a guest spot at OUAS. Each month I have drooled and aaaahh:d when seeing the amazing work of the DT and the super talented scrappers taking part in the challenges. No beating around the bush, I am thrilled to bits seeing my layout there on the main page! *pinching myself*
The theme of the June OUAS challenge is "Birthdays" and you can interpret the theme however you like based on the below sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure there is some sort of journalling on your layout and please tell where the journalling is. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
First, here's Nadia's pretty sketch:
I of course started thinking of when I turned 50, a milestone in my life, but also that special 8th birthday so long ago. I remember it so well, it was in 1967 and the Swedish grocery stores had just got something incredibly luxurious and NEW in their freezers - a cake entirely made of ice cream! oh dream of my dreams, mummy could I have that for my birthday pleeeease! and I did.
Only thing was, my mum had never seen anything like it in her whole life and it didn't strike her that ice cream is rather cold and solid ... ergo follows that we tried to hack our way into the surprise of all surprises but to no avail. Took an hour for the yumminess to thaw enough for us girls to be able to spoon it in and boy did we wolf it down!
But as usually my page took an entirely different route and the resulting page has nothing to do with regular birthdays. The title is kind of long for me: "Every day is the BIRTH of a new DAY". I've put the journalling at the back of my page as this page is a gift for a very special young lady who's been through her fair bit of rough spots in life, but who is now back on track again. A remarkable person!
My journalling tells her how every single day is a new day that starts with a clean slate and it is up to her to plant the seeds that will be her tomorrows. The flower bed in the photo is a symbol of that tomorrow and the view through the trees a promise of something that isn't visible yet. Hope, in other words.
So without further ado, here's my take:
For quite some time now I've been so irritated at cardstock warping when misted upon. Nothing I've done has helped to straighten it out. This time I've used special paper for watercolouring, a yummie thick paper with just a hint of structure. Here I've actually mounted the top layer on top of another water colour paper and that made the trick for me!
I've used 6 mists to create the soft background: TA Chalkboard in Cornflower + regular Fall Breeze + Frost + Patina + Wheatfields and Garden Fairy.
For the first time ever I have also used Caran d'Ache Neo Pastel crayons, that's the teal "frame" bit. Here I used 3 different crayons: Turquoise Green nbr 7400.191 + Malachite Green nbr 7400.180 + Turquoise Blue nbr 7400.180. Used a dry baby wipe to blend the colours. Not the last time you'll be seeing me use the crayons!
Stickles in Diamond on the chippie chicken wire and a squirt or two of TA Wheatfileds on the big cream coloured bloom.
What looks like fabric under the photo, is actually the tissue that I used to dab off excess mist when making the background. Looks really cool IRL if I may say so myself.
Layers and layers of fabric lace, doily lace, jewels and some more lace. The gorgeous green/white lace at the very bottom is a gift from my scrappy friend Lindy Gillespie in Australia, mwah to ya!
Ahhh, I should have put this under something heavy any way, that corner still doesn't want to stay down.
The photo is not my own, I found it on a British gardening site quite some time ago and have been waiting for the right moment to scrap it. The punched paper strips are from Swedish Maja Design's latest collection called Vintage Summer Basics.
Stamping, stamping and some more stamping with TH Vintage Photo + Broken China + Wild Honey.
Think I have to go and have myself a really strong cup of coffee to recover. Thank you ever so much for your sweet visit!!

TCR # 112 "Thankful" and Prima May BAP "La Vie En Rose"
Hot, hot, hot for a Stockholmian! the mercury showed +30C in our kitchen window and +27C indoors. The cats lie flat on the floor and the floor fans run around the clock. As we haven't got the safety net installed yet, we cannot keep the balcony door open because of the cats. The horrifying incident with Elsa falling off our 4th-floor balcony last autumn is brandished in my memory and the fur babies are not allowed out there until the net is safely in place.
YAY for Friday! I'm leaving for a business trip on Sunday and won't be back home till late on Wednesday night, which means I'm going to be even more far behind with visits and commenting. Really so sorry for that.
Today I've got a TCR page and a page for the Prima May BAP to share with you.
First the news on the two new TCR DT members: fabulous NIC HOWARD and absolutely awesome CZEKOCZYNA from Poland! A super welcome to both ladies!
There is still time to send in your applications for the DT call, send your entries to lydell@exemail.com.au by 8 June!
And now to the #112 TCR palette and wonderful inspo sketch by Lydell;
This is my take "Thankful";
The colourful lady in the photo is my scrappy friend Rebekah from Florida and her hunk on their wedding day, St Patrick's 2012. They had a beach wedding and I just LOVE the light in the photo and the tender look on Bekah's face when looking at her newly wed husband.
I have only used one layer of paper this time, 7Dots collection Wonderland, but I have misted extra around the borders and also inked in TH Black Soot to make the lace pattern come out better. Modelling paste/masking under the photo and matting.
At the moment I am absolutely crazy about acrylic paint in gold and have it on just about everything. The chippie grass was inked in TH Old Paper + Vintage Photo + Shabby Shutters before the gold was applied.
And then my Prima May BAP based on the En Francais collection. I called it "La Vie En Rose" to give it a whiff of Paris;
Just love that soooo typically French window!
Had myself some great fun dressing the 2 chippie flourishes! I say TA Glimmer Glam in Chandelier brings out the best in any colour! amazing stuff.
No French cuisine would be complèt without some ail!
Et voilà on et arrivé au fin!
Thank you for not thinking I'm a lazy bugger never bothering to come for a visit. You are all in my heart and on top of my list each weekend, but lately my time has not been entirely mine to own.
I so incredibly appreciate your visits and oh so kind comments!!
Have a wonderful wonderful weekend all of you! On Saturday, 26 May at 2 p.m. Swedish time I am thinking of my scrappy friend Sylvia Mellander and toasting to her and her newly wed husband Ulf. Wishing you a church full of sobbing family and friends and a helluva party afterwards!
DH and I are going for a meal with friends and then to the theatre. All tickets were sold out within the first 30 minutes after they were released but I sat there on the phone on the dot 06.00 a.m. and got my 4 billetos de luxe superior wowza mega yay for me!

CSI # 20 No Worries
Running so late with everything this week, work took off almost the sec I came to the office on Monday and hasn't slowed down since. Things are starting to gear up for Midsummer, which marks the start of the Swedish summer vacation/hols period.
This post will be short and sweet, only photos and the journalling.
First the #20 case file:
and the wonderful printable coordinates created by our very own Michele Sing
Here is my take, I've called it "No worries - Be Happy"
All papers except the yellow/white gingham matting that is K&Co, are from Jolee's Design's new scrummy collection called French General.
Isn't the little creepy crawley ever so beautiful! I found the photo on a Finnish gardening site.
And when you've turned over, you find this communiqué from the little fellow, click on the photo and it'll come up bigger.
Tomorrow is our 12th wedding anniversary and the pink champagne is already in the fridge. Not much else than drinking the bubblies and having a scrummy dinner at home happening as far as I know, which is an absolutely perfect ending to a working day.
With wedding bells in mind, I would like to start the count-down to the nuptials of my team mate Sylvia Mellander over at CSI. She will tie the knot with her Ulf on Saturday, 26 May. As for all brides-to-be, I know these last few days leading up to W day are nerve wrecking for her. Wishing you all the happiness in the world guys!!
And to you lovely peeps, have a fab end to the week!
Cheers! xoxox Eila
