TCR #114 Mr Right and a birthday card

Saturday wonderful Saturday! had a sleep-in today and was happily surprised Elsa didn't give me her usual 05:27 wake-up cuddle.

Today is a busy day with lots of chores on the list, again ;)) so I'll just share my layout for the TCR #114 palette and a birthday card that I made for my girlfriend M earlier in the week without further ado.

First the palette of rich colours (we were quite a few in the DT who were having cravings for Magnum icecream and chocolate when working with the palette):

And here is my take on it, another mixed media experimental page. Might have gone slightly overboard but hey, I'm still learning;

This is Mr E, the newlywed husband of my colourful scrappy friend Rebekah in Florida. I asked Bekah if she would let me scrap some photos that I picked out from their wedding day and she went all "huh?! those photos?! cannot imagine what you'll want to make of them".

Well, for starters all photos have an incredible light as they were taken on the beach. Also, their photographer went that extra mile to take photos that are not the usual ones that you always see from weddings. Aaand Bekah really does have a wonderfully expressive face, never too far from a rumbling hooting laughter that starts in the tummy and erupts in a joyful howl and leaves you teary-eyed. That fun also reflects in the photos.

Nope, that background paper in the centre is not a patterned paper. I've used plain cardstock and then paper pieced/pasted strips of patterned paper, tape, ephemera and you name it before gessoing it.

When I was happy with all the layers, I roughly tore of the edges and adhered it to a thick watercolour paper that I had brayered with brown acrylic paint and misted.

Gold acrylic paint and a mini mask.

After I had adhered the paper-pieced cardstock on the watercolour sheet, I misted and masked the circles in different hues of brown and sand.

No Eila page without some flowers. Here I have picked up the colour of Mr E's suit and the sand in the blooms. Sure are some Prima bling vines and swirls in black there as well.

Rather chunky IRL

And here he is, Mr Right. Love the angle of this photo, makes it so much more interesting than if it had been just a facial shot.

Never wrong with some bling even on a masculine page!

Next is a girly birthday card that I made earlier in the week for my girlfriend M. The papers and embellies are all from a KaiserCraft Sweet Nothings paper pad sent to me by my wonderful scrappy friend Lindy in Brisbane. Thank you ever so much darling!

There's a lesson learned here with the masking. Doesn't work at all on a too fair background, but it does give some added texture anyway even if you cannot see the pattern particularly well.

So with this girly card I hasten to say thanks for popping by! DH is impatiently waiting for his tardy wife.

Be good! take care! toodelipip!

  10. holy cow! this is stunning! read how you did this background page 5 times.. & i'm still not getting it. ah well, its just gorgeous & my man looks every part of his 6'4 220 handsome frame! this layout belongs in a frame - not a protective sheet! makes me teary eyed! i'm a lucky girl.. cause that's the face i got to see at the end of the beach isle. love those dramatic polka dots (stamps?) and the color palette suits the picture beautifully! this beets what i was doing with the picture for sure!

you're to funny describing my laughter - that's pretty much it too. sometimes i make others laugh just cause i'm laughing.. silly.

  13. Wow Eila love that pretty card with the subtle masking - just up my street! And your experimental layout is fabulous!! I get bored stiff on blogs that are 100% predictable with such a set style that it's all so generic. I love what you have done with that page. Full Of passion!!
