The Color Room # 123 - "Threads"

Friday oh happy Friday! don't we all just love it!

With so many unexpected blog posts of late, I'll make this one short and sweet..

The Color Room released it's palette # 123 this morning our time. Ingvild Bolme, our Guest Designer for August, has of course stunned us all with her page featuring the palette! The colours have got some punch to them; pool blue, vibrant raspberry pink and leafy green. Instead of a 4th colour, you have a choice of your own to use flowers, ribbons, or/and chipboard.

Here's my take, I have called it "Threads" and will be pretty obvious why as you see the close-ups :))

The majority of the papers are from Norwegian Tilda.

This is MIL, the photo was taken back in 1952. All her life she has been sewing and mending stuff, thought it would be kind of appropriate to use her photo on the page.

Instead of ribbons, I used lace. Used a Crafter's Workshop mini template and Mr Huey's Opaque White mist for the lacey pattern. Looks like brodérie Anglaise to me.

My darned sewing machine blew up on me earlier in the spring and it hasn't recovered miraculously since. It does stitch, but the thread just jumbles up at the back and nothing is left to show on the front. So I though I'll just stitch the holes and leave the sad stitching as it is.

While browsing on Etsy, I came across a lady that does the most adorable pin cushions. That's where I got the idea for my page from and that little padded pin board that I just stuck haberdashery to. I dressed a square of sturdy cardboard with some canvas and made the teal/white checkered strips the same way.

  9. Amazing page Eila!! Wow you have been so active this week! I've enjoyed my cappucino this morning and a chance to get through all your beautifully vibrant posts!! It must be the Summer Holidays that got your mojo into full-blown overtime action!!! Very inspirational indeed. Have a wonderful weekend and week and thank you so much for the phone call. I just loved chatting with you. I have no scrappy friends IRL to talk to about it and my family are enthusiastic FOR me but not WITH me so it was such fun to have that time with you forgetting about my sadness and being able to have such a soul to soul chat - you are a wonderful, wonderful friend xoxo
