A mini album for someone special - part 1 of 4

Hi ya!

I have a very very special young lady in my life. She is the daughter I never gave birth to myself, but who has blessed my entire life by being in it.

Many evenings and many nights were spent putting together a gift for her, a mini album with photos of the people who are dearest to her. Each page has little symbolic messages that only she can decipher.

I made the album pages myself from thick watercolour paper. A left over single album page was used to draw the outline before cutting out 2 sheets for each page. They were glued together with gel medium, and then dressed in 2 layers of form-cut paper on each side before the edges were chalked and dry-gessoed. Only this prep work took 10 hours to do. So each page has 3 layers of paper even before I started adding more paper layers and embellies to them.

As the main focus is the album itself, I simply tied a bunch of 3 Tilda ribbons from my stash around one of the binder rings.

The album is very dimensional, so it had to be split into 2 albums. Extra large binder rings make it easy to flip the bulky pages. I will be sharing the 14 pages split into 4 blogposts to avoid photo overload.

Here are the first 4 pages, hope you like them as much as I enjoyed creating them!

  11. I've wanted to comment on this album many times but I've not had the courage to do so as so many emotions flood into me. I will write them personally to you soon but I just want to say how amazingly beautiful this album is and the photos are just so special. I wish there were explanations of who is who in them so I could connect to the story. She's a very special soul, just like you!! thanks for sharing!!
