Prima MAY PPP - two projects

Hi ya, so glad to see you!

Midsummer was as beautiful as I hoped for. Sunshine every day. Got bitten by the summer hols bug but it's not quite time to put on the shorts and enjoy lazy days yet. A couple of more weeks in the office before work is out for summer.

Making this a short post. Sharing the 2 projects I made for the Prima MAY PPP.  First the colours;

2013 May PPP

May and June so far have been crazy crazy months both scrappy and workwise. Really so sorry for being MIA in so many places but the day simply doesn't have enough hours - yet.

Some of you might remember that my life turned upside down last winter when two of my friends died in cancer withing weeks of each other.

The daughter of one of these friends graduated some weeks ago. My 2 Prima May PPP projects were created for her; a card and a gift box.

In the box we extra-aunties and uncles put a pair of diamond studs for her. A reminder of how she is surrounded by the love of many people and how something that seems the end of the world still can lead to other beautiful places and discoveries.

Here they are; first the card

And then the box, this is what it looked like raw before I painted it in the minty teal green and started decorating;

The box was rather difficult to photograph, as always it looks so much better IRL but now you've at least got a hunch of what it looks like.

Ta ta! and see you again if you want to. Thanks for popping by!

Prima MAY BAP - hello Midsummer!

Hi there!

Hope you're having a beautiful autumn or splendid prelude to summer wherever around our good Mother Earth you are. Stockholm has definitely notched up its summer feel. Today is Midsummer's Eve, the lightest day of the year when day and night are almost one.

I feel as light as the fairies dancing in the meadows at midnight, like the butterflies fluttering over buttercups and daisies, like the sunshine and lapping of water against our shores. Life is good, life is blessed. Thank you Prima for having me as one of your GDTs 2013-2014! Dancing also for all the talented, amazing friends on their new DT - here's to you all - CONGRATULATIONS!

About time to share my Prima MAY BAP. Here's a reminder of the sketch;

2013 May BAP

and my take on it - "Ye Old Mill"

A mix of old and new collections on this one. That's what I think is so amazing with Prima's collections, you can mix and match them with a fabulous result. Everything just goes so well together!

Papers used going from bottom and up:

Fairy Rhymes
Zephyr
Sun Kiss
Divine

I will let the photos speak for themselves. Misting, masking, pearls, lace, twine, gesso, acrylic paint used throughout my page.

Here I've also used the ornate top piece of the Blue Fern Studios Layered Bordeaux Frame.

The base is Prima Ingvild Bolme Edge Chalker in Dark Bark. Then layers of Mister Huey's in "Water Cooler", TA "Patina" and acrylic paints in Sky Blue, Peking Red, Pumpkin and Gold.

Listening to an amazing young singer, for those of you old enough to remember the British singer Mick Hucknall and the band Simply Red, this is a young version of Mick. Amazing voice! check him out on YouTube:

I'll be back in a couple of days to share the two projects I made for the Prima MAY PPP. Till then, toodelipip!xoxox Eila

Second take on Skissedilla sketch 215 - "Family Camping"

Hello hello!

Have been barraging with blog posts lately, so this one will be a short one.

Norwegian Skissedilla released its sketch 215 on Sunday, 16 June, here it is;

I made two different versions, here is the other one; "Family Camping".

Papers used are going from bottom and up:

Prima "Divine"
Teresa Collins  "Everyday Moments"
Prima "Divine"
Strips of KaiserCraft "Pickled Pear"

Photo by my favest Finnish photographer.

This is exactly how coffee was made on my childhood camping and fishing trips, over a camp fire in an old copper coffee pot blackened by many fires.

Big "Divine" chippie button and small Petaloo blooms.

Everything was touched up in gesso and sky blue acrylic paint. Misted masking in TA Apple.

Wonderful having you for a visit! thanks ever so much!

Skissedilla sketch 215 - "Nothing Beats Coffee"

Hello again!

Time for a new sketch from Skissedilla! They always have room for different interpretation, so many cool options as you can see from the DT's work HERE

So much that I made two pages based on the same sketch and the same photos. I will share my other page with you in the next few days.

I have had a big box of Gelatos sitting on my desk for several months but haven't used them. Now was a good time as any so out the came. Ooopsadaisy! had no idea they would be so rich and cover so much! but hey, I'm still learning. Be gentle with me when you look at my page :))

First the sketch.

Here's my experimental take on sketch 215 that went live on 16 June.

Papers used going from bottom and up:

KaiserCraft "Magnolia Grove" (green)
KaiserCraft "From This Day" (amber)
Basic Gray "Piccadilly" (blue)
Pink Paislee "Hope Chest"
Fancy Pants and Pink Paislee clippings from my desk for the smaller pieces under the photo

I have also used the Blue Fern Studios Shabby Layered Frame.

The bottom piece was painted and misted in different golden yellow and amber tones to bring out the camp fire.I also used Gelato in "Butter Cream" on it.

The ornate top piece was painted in Glimmer Glaze Palo Verde, then painted in pale blue acrylic paint before I randomly added acrylic paint in gold and gesso on it.

The masked swirl was first painted in Gelato "Blueberry" before I aplied pale blue acrylic paint over it.

Shabby Layered Frame

Unexpectedly rich colours covered most of the papers, but here you can just about guess the paper is from PP Hope Chest. Some Gelato in "Tangerine" in there too.

 Prima goodies of course. The butterflies are from PP "Hope Chest".

Everything was heavily misted in TA Gold. The pooling IRL is absolutely heavenly.

And that's it! I like the effect of the Gelatos but have to experiment some more to get the hang of them.

Be good, be happy, take care of you!

PaperHaus Magazine Featured Friend 31 May 2013 + Frank Garcia, Gerry van Gent, Donna Downey and Finnabair are coming to town!

Hello hello!

So very happy to see ye beautiful beautiful peeps who pop by and leave such fantastic comment - THANK YOU!!

It is now a fortnight ago that PaperHaus Magazine had me as their Featured Friend. So much has happened since that I haven't been able to share the page that I made specifically for that occasion. HERE IS THE LINK TO THE BLOG POST

This is the page I made; "My Darling";

All papers used are from KaiserCraft.

The pièce de résistance is the Blue Fern Studios gorgeous Sweetheart Dressform. Ever since I got it from Leslie, I've been dreaming of dressing it in bling and tulle. When I accidentally found a hair piece in a "dollar store", I knew I had found what I was looking for.

Even more so when I opened up the gift from my sweet friend Lindy Gillespie in Australia, and found the tulle trim among many other yummilicious things that she had sent me. Thanks a bunch darling!

The couple in the photo is my MIL and FIL on their engagement day back in 1952.

Just look at the tulle!! Pardon me for saying it, but this arrangement of Lindy's tulle and Melissa Frances' floppy pink blossom trim and those pearls make me wish for a multi-layered ballgown to twirl around in.

Subtle masking.

The Sweetheart Dressform was first chalked in brown, then misted heavily in gold before it was randomly touched up in gold acrylic paint. All embellies were also touched up in the gold acrylic paint.

For those of you who live in the Northern hemisphere, perhaps in one of the Scandinavian countries, here's some yummo news for you;
