Skissedilla sketch nbr 220 - Happy or What - and PaperHaus Magazine's DT call

So everything, well not quite everything, is back to normal again. Work has begun but still summer lingers on even if the evenings are getting a lot darker and colder.

Today is Sunday, which means release day over at Norwegian Skissedilla.

HERE is the link to the reveal.

I have been asked if I change my style of scrapping depending on which site I scrap for. The answer is both yes and no. I do tend to use brighter and bolder colours for Skissedilla but the flowers are still there. It's nice to venture outside one's box once in a while, but shabby chic has a special place in my scrappy heart.

Here is the Dilla sketch nbr 220;

And here is my take on it - "Am I Happy Or What"

While purging my stash I of course found lots and lots of products that I had forgotten all about. Among them were some ancient Sassa Frass Lass papers and Basic Grey stickers that I decided to use on this page.

I was inspired by the grid and used 4 photos to my normal 1 or maximum 2.
This is the daughter of my friend who passed away last winter
on her graduation day in May.
The hat is the typical Swedish graduation hat with
embroidered white velvet top.

I also found rolls upon rolls of washi long forgotten. These are MME I think.

My much treasured Corine flowers. Still got a few packs of them,
they are among the last existing
in the world. Boohoo! :(

Lots of things happening over at the PaperHaus Magazine!

Have you seen our DT call!

Deadline for applications is 20 August 2013.

And that's it for this post!

I will be back on Wednesday, 14th with my second take on the
Once Upon A Sketch August challenge,
a more free interpretation.

Till then, thanks a million for your invaluable support! it means so much to me.

Scrap Around The World August challenge - close-ups of my page "Every Day"

Hello again!

I'm back with close-ups of my  take on the SATW August challenge that I am hosting.

First the moodboard and sketch;

This month our merit winner will receive this huge prize pack from Green Tara!

Our random winner will receive an electronic gift voucher
to the value of US$25 from "A Cherry On Top" courtesy of me!

*****

Now to my page - "Every Day";

I got inspired more by the flow of details in the photos than the actual details themselves - the flowers tumbling down the cake, the silvery shine of the jewellery in the 2nd photo
& the richness of the bracelets in the 1st.

The circular shapes of the sketch translated themselves into the flowers & chipboard clock. I used the pale teal from one of the feathers & the white from the cookie icing dust for my main colours.

Heartfelt thanks to Green Tara who very generously sponsored the white organza Tutus & the adorable yellow silk Primulas on my layout. Their kind sponsorship included many more beautiful Green Tara blooms I will be using on future layouts.

I normally use at least 3 different papers on my pages but this time I've only used one from KaiserCraft.

Masked little blooms with pink liquid pearl centres.

Chippie title is from Blue Fern Studios. It was painted in white acrylic paint and sprinkled with small white pearls.

Best Day Ever
The Best Day Ever (075278)

Red die-cut rose from Anna Griffin (Fleur Rose), chippie swirl is Dusty Attic and yellow Silk Primula courtesy of Green Tara.

Strips of paper on the left are Authentique "Grace", more die-cuts from Anna Griffin "Fleur Rose".

White organza Tutus & the adorable yellow silk Primulas are courtesy of Green Tara. Die-cut birds and bird cage are Anna Griffin "Fleur Rose".

The chippie clock is from Blue Fern Studios. It was painted in white acrylic paint and then stipled in modelling paste for structure, covered in white small pearls, painted in Winsor & Newton Iridescen Medium and then touched up with Stickles Diamonds for glimmer and shine.

Matting under the photo is 3 square and rectangular die-cuts from Anna Griffin "Fleur Rose".

Thank you so much for your visit!

Hello hello!

This post is pre-scheduled as today is my first day back at work after the summer hols.

The passed weekend saw temperatures of up to +35C and that is HOT for us! almost unheard of.

1 August marked the reveal of Scrap Around The World's August challenge. We have a moodboard hosted by me, combined with a sketch by our resident sketch designer Julianne McKenna-De Lumen.

EXAMPLES OF HOW THE MOOD BOARD CAN INSPIRE YOU!

1.  You could be inspired by THE COLOURS - some of them, all of them, or one of them!

2.  You can use ANY colours & DO NOT need to follow the colours of the mood board at all
if you are inspired by SOMETHING ELSE on the board instead.

3.  You can be inspired by any of the images, some of the images or all of them!

For example:-  you could use - Ruffles, chain, bling, rhinestones, clear dots,
pearls, gold, glitter, hearts, metal embellishments, bows, silver, metallics,
antique-inspired embellishments, jewelled clusters, leaves, feathers, berries,
vines, twigs, twine, stickpins, flowers, ribbons, crochet, misting, confetti, sprinkles,
gesso, vellum or ANYTHING ELSE that springs to mind when you look at the mood board.

REMEMBER TO TELL US WHAT INSPIRED YOU UNLESS IT IS OBVIOUS :)

Use our sketch as your staring point as we would like to see that it definitely inspired you!
Feel free to 'make it your own' by flipping it, turning it, inverting it & moving things about if you like but
PLEASE DO NOT DEPART FROM IT ENTIRELY!

You can also change the photo orientation & number of photos to be as few or as many as you like.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!

1.   Be inspired by ANY ASPECT of our mood board
(this could be just ONE aspect, many aspects or EVERY aspect!)
Let us know what inspired you unless it is obvious!
AND
2.  Use our sketch as your starting point
(We need to SEE that you started off with our sketch -
no need to follow it entirely but please it needs to be visible in your layout).

3.  Both the sketch & mood board images
OR THE COMBO IMAGE OF BOTH
MUST appear in your challenge entry.

4.  You must mention in your post that you are playing along at
Scrap Around The World & link back to us.

Green Tara are an Australian based company & are importers & wholesalers of fine handmade & milled mulberry papers, beautiful ribbons, fabric flowers, washi tape, etc. They are continually adding to their collections of high quality products & provide papers with rich colours, wonderful textures & beautiful patterns.

Their growing business has provided work to many villagers in the area where the paper is made. Mulberry paper (or saa paper as it is called in Thailand) is made from the bark of the mulberry tree, which peels from the trunk of the tree at the end of each rainy season, making it an ecologically friendly product, as no trees are cut down in the process!

The bark is pulped & spread onto large racks to dry then used to make numerous products, including the Green Tara petals & flowers - which are all hand made.  Their riibbons are made from the finest quality fabrics available & their already extensive range is continually growing. The latest Green Tara product is Washi Tape.

We all know how times flies, in no time it will be 1 September and boy what a fabulous 1 September it will be! The new autumn issue of the PaperHaus Magazine will be released.

Not only that, it marks the start of the PaperHaus Fall Splendor bloghop! an amazing massive two weeks of daily hopping with a prize that has that major I-want-it-badly-and-give-it-to-me-NOW factor ...

You will hear lots more about this in the weeks to come!

************

And now to the close-ups of my take on the OUAS August challenge;

My journalling is always at the back of my pages.

Instead of using "I will never forget", I like to think "I will always remember" as it has a more positive ring to it. And I will certainly always remember the day Alice and Elsa came to our home, it was on 7 July 2010.

"Mummy cat was very very ill and died when you were only 7 weeks old. I could hold you both in my cupped hands, you were so tiny. That summer dad and I took turns spending 24/7 for several weeks in the little room we had lovingly prepared for you, hand-feeding you until you could eat solid foods and gradually letting you exlore the expanses of your new home.

Already then it was obvious that Elsa (black) was to be the elegant, fearless lithe panther, always balancing at the top of everything and oh so incredibly clever. Alice (b&w) was always hungry, always toppling things over in your eagerness to do what your sister did. Many flower pots ended up on the floor when Alice chased a flie. Alice, gentle and sweet, so full of love for us all.

My hair became the substitute for your mummy. 3 years on, you still cuddle up on my pillow at bedtime with your front paws in my hair, purring like little engines. In the evenings you curl up next to us on the sofa, Alice on daddy's tummy and Elsa on my lap. Our big boy Max has taught you well, he keeps an eye on the household from his majestic position on the armrest of the sofa. Our little family."

All papers are from Polish UHK Gallery "Tropical Fruits". Beautiful, thick papers of excellent quality. They can be found  HERE

Even if the shop is in Polish of course, it is easy to click around and find things. I then emailed the shop owner in English, asking if they would send me a PayPal invoice, and Bob's your uncle - I had my parcel in no time!

Chippie title is from Imaginarium Designs. I just inked it in scarlet red and highlighted lightly in black.

Here they are, Alice at the bottom and Elsa at the top, wrestling as they still like to do. Always finishing off by lovingly washing each other and then falling asleep in a tangled heap. Here they must be about 9 weeks old.

Flowers from Petaloo and the intricate chipboard plaque from Polish Wycinanka, which I also got from the online store of UHK Gallery HERE

I left it raw as it has a most unusal delightful pale creamy colour instead of the darker one most chippies have.

PRODUCT LIST:
Papers: UHK Gallery "Tropical Fruits"
Flowers: Petaloo
Chipboard: Imaginarium Designs, Wycinanka
Stamps: Prima
Punches: “Traditional Eyelet” and “Pinking Scallop”
Stash: Gesso, modeling paste, black archival ink, buttons, lace, Prima resin, Melissa Frances resin, alpha stickers

Thank you so much for your visit, I really really appreciate it!

I'll be back with the Scrap Around The World August challenge on Monday, 5 August. Surpise - this month's moodboard is hosted by me!
