Scrap Around The World August challenge - "Every Day"

Hello hello!

This post is pre-scheduled as today is my first day back at work after the summer hols.

The passed weekend saw temperatures of up to +35C and that is HOT for us! almost unheard of.

1 August marked the reveal of Scrap Around The World's August challenge. We have a moodboard hosted by me, combined with a sketch by our resident sketch designer Julianne McKenna-De Lumen.

EXAMPLES OF HOW THE MOOD BOARD CAN INSPIRE YOU!

1.  You could be inspired by THE COLOURS - some of them, all of them, or one of them!

2.  You can use ANY colours & DO NOT need to follow the colours of the mood board at all
if you are inspired by SOMETHING ELSE on the board instead.

3.  You can be inspired by any of the images, some of the images or all of them!

For example:-  you could use - Ruffles, chain, bling, rhinestones, clear dots,
pearls, gold, glitter, hearts, metal embellishments, bows, silver, metallics,
antique-inspired embellishments, jewelled clusters, leaves, feathers, berries,
vines, twigs, twine, stickpins, flowers, ribbons, crochet, misting, confetti, sprinkles,
gesso, vellum or ANYTHING ELSE that springs to mind when you look at the mood board.

REMEMBER TO TELL US WHAT INSPIRED YOU UNLESS IT IS OBVIOUS :)

Use our sketch as your staring point as we would like to see that it definitely inspired you!
Feel free to 'make it your own' by flipping it, turning it, inverting it & moving things about if you like but
PLEASE DO NOT DEPART FROM IT ENTIRELY!

You can also change the photo orientation & number of photos to be as few or as many as you like.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO!

1.   Be inspired by ANY ASPECT of our mood board
(this could be just ONE aspect, many aspects or EVERY aspect!)
Let us know what inspired you unless it is obvious!
AND
2.  Use our sketch as your starting point
(We need to SEE that you started off with our sketch -
no need to follow it entirely but please it needs to be visible in your layout).

3.  Both the sketch & mood board images
OR THE COMBO IMAGE OF BOTH
MUST appear in your challenge entry.

4.  You must mention in your post that you are playing along at
Scrap Around The World & link back to us.

5.  Link us please to YOUR BLOG POST NOT your entire blog.

6.   Turn off your word-verification if you would like some
of our Design Team members to comment on your entry.

7. Please check our RULES OF PLAY HERE before you begin your entry!

The deadline for this challenge is midnight EST Sunday 25 August 2013.

Green Tara are an Australian based company & are importers & wholesalers of fine handmade & milled mulberry papers, beautiful ribbons, fabric flowers, washi tape, etc. They are continually adding to their collections of high quality products & provide papers with rich colours, wonderful textures & beautiful patterns.

Their growing business has provided work to many villagers in the area where the paper is made. Mulberry paper (or saa paper as it is called in Thailand) is made from the bark of the mulberry tree, which peels from the trunk of the tree at the end of each rainy season, making it an ecologically friendly product, as no trees are cut down in the process!

The bark is pulped & spread onto large racks to dry then used to make numerous products, including the Green Tara petals & flowers - which are all hand made.  Their riibbons are made from the finest quality fabrics available & their already extensive range is continually growing. The latest Green Tara product is Washi Tape.

Here is my take - "Every Day";

I got inspired more by the flow of details in the photos than the actual details themselves - the flowers tumbling down the cake, the silvery shine of the jewellery in the 2nd photo & the richness of the bracelets in the 1st.

The circular shapes of the sketch translated themselves into the flowers & chipboard clock.
I used the pale teal from one of the feathers & the white from the cookie icing dust for my main colours.

Heartfelt thanks to Green Tara who very generously sponsored the white organza Tutus & the adorable yellow silk Primulas on my layout. Their kind sponsorship included many more beautiful Green Tara blooms I will be using on future layouts.

I will be back tomorrow with close-ups of my page. See you then if you want to!

xoxo Eila
