Once Upon A Sketch June challenge - "Garden Jewels"

Hej! as we say in Swedish for hello!

Cannot believe we are already in the middle of June! busy busy days with a gazillion things to finish before the summer holidays set in. Hope this post finds you well and happy in whichever hemisphere you are at the moment. 

Once Upon A Sketch went live with a new challenge on 1 June, but because of all releases colliding timewise, I simply haven't been able to post it until today. 

So, here we go!

 

Theme: What's your guilty pleasure?

Oh yes! We all get some sort of pleasure from something we really shouldn't. What's yours?

  

Ideas for journalling: scrapping, time alone, food, going to a concert, a T.V show, time in the garden, playing , Facebook, your iphone, shopping, bags, shoes, computer time, designing, creating etc etc 

Your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. 

 Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . You are allowed to journal in any language but please tell us where on your page we will find your journalling. Remember journalling has to be a bit more than a title, or a generic comment. Hidden journalling is perfectly fine. 

The deadline for this challenge is midnight June 25th Australian Eastern Standard Time

And here is my take on the sketch - "Garden Jewels".

I always put my journalling at the back of the page as I don't want to be distracted by the text. It says how I always throw myself at the garden magazines and seed catalogues that I subscribe to when they arrive. I can leave any chores there and then just for the pleasure of browsing my precious garden dreams. I have no qualms for leaving dishes in the sink, washing undone, vacuum cleaner in its cupboard for a moment of dreaming of the perfect garden. A cup of coffee in hand, dunking a bisquit or two or why not 10 while I'm at it. 

Ahhh! cannot say it's a guilty pleasure as I see it as one of my great sources of inspiration. Remember I'm a flower girl through and through!

All papers are from Swedish Pion Design's collection Vintage Garden.

 The chipboard frame is from our sponsor Imaginarium Designs.  The photo was taken from internet.

Just ADORE these colours of soft green, blue and creamy yellow!

 As the garden grows, so does the gardener. True true!

Blue Fern Studio - "Summer's Last Blooms" and "Horsey" made just for fun

Hi and welcome back!

Today I am sharing my final layout as DT of Blue Fern Studios but it doesn't mean I will stop using their chipboards on my layouts, they are of such high quality and exquisite design that using them is pure delight!

Without further ado - here's my layout "Summer's Last Blooms". An unusually clean one.

Papers used on this page are mainly from Norwegian Tilda. The fussy cut blue frame is from KaiserCraft as are the fussy cut doilies tucked in between the photos.

I used 3 pieces of chipboard; the title, a piece from the Sympony Border and the Lattice Gate.

 These photos are not my own, they were taken off internet.

Fussy cut details from an ooooold Webster's Pages paper.

A  cut-off snippet from the Symphony Border makes a pretty corner flourish.

The Lattice Gate is such a versatile piece, it can be altered in any way and look so different. I have used white acrylic paint on all chipboards and then dabbed fuchsia and lime acrylic paint on them in varying degree.

Even if my term with Blue Fern Studios is over, I have used their chipboards on many more pages that I will share with you soon.

I was also playing with stuff I had sitting on my desk last weekend, wanted to make something with a summer feel, this is the result. No colour combos or any sketch used, just me having some fun - "Horsey In The Country";

Papers used on this one are all Kaiser Craft.

Blue Fern Studios - "Blooming Beauty"

Hi there!

Time flies when one has fun and I've really enjoyed working with the chipboards from Blue Fern Studios. Cannot believe 6 months have already gone and I've come to my second last page created for them.

But today is 11 June and I have my post up on the Blue Fern Studios blog HERE

I am sharing one of the pages today and the very last one made as BFS DT tomorrow. But I have many other pages on which I've used the BFS chipboards, to share with you in coming blog posts.

 

The papers used on my page are from KaiserCraft Magnolia Grove except the paler pink on the top, which is from Polish The ScrapCake.

The pretty tulle trim and the beautiful green ribbon, as well as the gorgeous velvet apple blossoms in the bottom cluster, are gifts from my beautiful and mighty generous pal Lindy Gillespie in Australia. THANK YOU darling!

Here I have mounted one of the beautiful butterflies from the Brigitte Butterfly Set topped by a little piece of chippie from the top of a Garden Window, you know the bits that you remove, on top of a Royal Border - Large. I have also used a cameo from BoBunny. 

The Royal Border was misted in Olive Vine + Apple + Gold + before I swiped acrylic paint in gold randomly over it.

The butterfly was misted in dark berry pink tones before it was covered in Glimmer Glam Chandelier for ultra glossy sparkle.

I used the mini flourish taken out from the top 

In this cluster as well as in the large one at the bottom, I used the Garden Daisies - Large.

It was first dabbed in yellow and green before the flower heads were covered in micro beads in gold.

The title is also from Blue Fern Studios - the Blooming Beauty. It had the same treatment as the Royal Border.

In the large bottom cluster, I tucked in the curved piece of the chain from the Fancy Fob Watch. It was first covered  in Winsor & Newton Glass Beads Texture Gel before painted in gold acrylic paint.
