Hello hello!

My blogposts are coming fast and furious for a couple of weeks, quite a few challenges that went live simultaneously on 1 june.  Thank you so much for coming back and leaving so many beautiful comments! I am afraid I have very little time for visiting at the moment, everything works at a mad pace up till midsummer (21 June) when Sweden slows down.

Today I'm sharing my take on Blue Fern Studio's June sketch. First the beautiful sketch itself, as always designed by the ever talented Michele Singh who also designs the BFS chipboards;

 

The main feature of the sketch is one of the Page Chains

Here's my take - "Onnenkoski Bridge". Onnenkoski is the name of a place in southern Finland. The photo was taken by the Finnish photographer, the photos of whom I am allowed to use on my layouts. 

All papers used are from Fancy Pants' collection "Winter Wonderland". Just proves how versatile the reverse side of most collections is. Not a snowflake in sight!

Fussy cutting/die cuts are from MME, Prima, KaiserCraft, Meg's Garden and Polish The ScrapCake.

I wanted to achieve a rusty feel to the chain, also mimicing the moss growing between the stone blocks of the bridge.

I first painted it in lime green acrylic paint before misting it in muted red and then randomly swiping Lumière acrylic paint in Metallic Rust over the whole chain. Then I used Winsor & Newston Glass Beads Texture Gel in lumps here and there. As a last step I dabbed the glass beads in brown ink and rusty red. Me thinks the result us kind of cool!

SATW June challenge - close ups of "Bumble Bee"

Hello again!

This is going to be a short blogpost in which I'm sharing some close-ups of my take on the SATW June challenge. I will be back again on 9 June with the name of the winner of my PaperHaus SUMMER DELIGHT bloghop prize and my take on the Blue Fern Studios June sketch challenge.

I had so many ideas for my page, so many ways to interpret both the lovely sketch and the delish moodboard.

The pink rose set the tone for my page as did the banner although I moved it under my photo instead. The stacked books & pink cake inspired me to stack my fussy-cut elements. I was inspired by the pale tones of the mood board, particularly the addition of brown that always adds a vintage feel.  The sketch was my initial inspiration although I ended up moving elements around to accommodate the many fussy-cut elements I wanted to include in my page.

 

All papers used are from Swedish Pion Design's latest collection Vintage Garden. I had originally planned to use something minty and pale pink but when I started rummaging for papers and embellies, I couldn't find anything in mint. So when the postman knocked on the door with a parcel and I saw these papers, Bob was my uncle and pink became the main colour.

Scrapping soft and vintage now and then does something special for me, even if I like to create mixed media pages too.

Scrap Around The World - June challenge - "Bumble Bee"

Hello sweet friends!

June, beautiful June with blooming fruit trees and Mother Nature in her fresh summer clothes. I love this prelude to fullblown summer when everything still has that delicate green to it. It's like my eyes are sensitive to that special green and the sensory signals go straight out into every inch of my being. Happy as a lark that's what I am!

Talking about Mother Nature and being inspired. Scrap Around The World (SATW) released its June moodboard and sketch on 1 June. HERE'S THE LINK TO THE RELEASE

We have an eclectic, retro mood board from Design Team member Anupama Choudary, together with a happy & whimsical sketch from our resident sketch artist Julianne McKenna-De Lumen.

 

 

 All you need to do is be inspired by the mood board (in any way) and to use our sketch as your starting point.

(No need to tell us HOW the board inspired you if it is OBVIOUS. Otherwise, please let us know - a couple of lines explanation is all that is vital for us).

 

The above image MUST appear on the blog post containing your challenge entry - you also need to mention that you are playing along with the current challenge at Scrap Around The World and LINK UP TO IT please,

(not to your entire blog). 

How to use our sketches 

As you would any other sketch.  We would like to see that it definitely inspired you
& was your 'starting point' but you can 'make it your own' by flipping it, turning it,
 inverting it & moving things about if you like.  You can also change the 
photo orientation and number of photos to be as few or as many as you like.

How to use our mood boards 

Our mood boards are for your INSPIRATION only.You can be inspired by one of the images, all of the images, or any number of them, or even parts thereof.

 

Anupama is our challenge host this month & will be monitoring the comments section of this post & answering any questions you may have - also directly in the comments section - but please read the 'Rules of Play' before you begin, as that should tell you everything you need to know.

This is my take on it. I flipped the sketch 90 degrees to the left.

 

The photo is yet again taken by the Finnish photographer whom I've mentioned many times before. I have her permission to use her photos  for my scrapbooking. It really captures summer in the Finnish, or Swedish, archipelago. I can almost hear the seagulls and the sound of oars rowing.

Papers used on this one are all from different Prima collections, the fussy-cut orange one for example, is from Zephyr.

The photo was taken by a friend of mine and is from the Swedish west coast.

Blue Fern Studios chipboard Spring Iris - Large that I misted in different hues of green and then swiped randomly with pale blue acrylic paint before dipping into white Flower Soft for fluffy blossom heads, almost like dandelions just before they start floating in the wind like little hot air balloons.

I promise you will be totally bowled over by her incredible techniques and use of colour!

When I attended one of Finnabair's workshops in Stockholm earlier this year, we used some cool transparent epoxy stickers. You just plop the sticky side onto a patterned paper and cut out the shape. Brilliant custom made pebbles!
