Skissedilla July challenge - "Summer Sweet"

Hello there!

Another week has gone by. I am still working my way to blogs, don't give up if I didn't quite make it to yours last week. I'm on my way!

A nap in the afternoon, a glass of wine when the evening gets cooler, easy cooking and just relaxing. That's what else I've been doing this passed week. 

Another week to go before August knocks on the door, which also means there is a whole week to play along with the Skissedilla July challenge if you like. Here's the sketch to start with;

I flipped it 90 degrees to the right. This is "Summer Sweet";

Not easy to see but the background is made entirely of modpodged and gessoed strips of paper from Authentique's "Grace" collection. Masking and acrylic paint in teal, yellow and lime green.

 

I used a left over section from the Blue Fern Studios chipboard  Lattice Fence under the bottom cluster.

Second take on Scrap Around The World July challenge - "A Most Delightful Lady"

Hello hello!

Hope you are all enjoying summer or autumn wherever you are on our good Mother Earth. A week has already passed of my summer hols and life has taken a leisurely pace, love it!

As I mentioned in my previous blogpost, I made a second page based on the SATW July challenge. This time in other colours and with a more free interpretation of the moodboard and sketch.

Here it is - "A Most Delightful Lady";

 

Papers used on this one, going from bottom and up;

Swedihs Pion Design "Vintage Garden" (brown)

and then the matting in Pion Design again.

 The chipboard title is from one of Blue Fern Studios' word sets.

This is truly a most delightful lady. Her name is Mrs Brigitte Grenfeldt and she is a gold medal award winning portrait photographer who lives in Stockholm. Her work is exquisite!

This photo was taken by another photographer, Ms Kate Gabor.

The fussy-cut rose trellis is from KaiserCraft.

 

Background of masking and misting, painting in Lindy's Stampgang's Saltwater Taffy (pale pink) and Twinkling H2O Gold. Very subtle again. Tim Holtz filmstrip and more Prima goodies.

Melissa Frances bling and Blue Fern Studios Symphony Corners - Medium. I painted the chippie in white acrylic paint and touched up in gold dito before tracing them in liquid pearls in pink. Looks kind of cool IRL and has a beautiful lustre.

Scrap Around The World July challenge - close-ups of my page "On Wings of Love"

Hello weekend! hello summer holidays YAY!

Breakfast out on our balcony, cats lazily lounging around our feet. Boy does the coffee taste better than ever! Going from Mach3 to the cloppety clop of a horse-drawn wagon is heavenly. I so need this break.

While I was away earlier this week, Scrap Around The World (SATW) went live with our July challenge. HERE is the link to the reveal.

And here are also the gorgeus moodboard by Keren Tamir and the yummo sketch by our resident sketch designer Julienne McKenna-De Lumen;

And here is my take on it - "On Wings of Love";

It is deceitfully simple but IRL there is a massive amount of very subtle transluscent background work applied.

I immediately fell in love with the ornate gables, the shimmering gold & the delicate & romantic feel of the mood board. The photo of the dreamy view through the draped whispy curtains (in the first image on the mood board) reminded me of the photo I used (courtesy of Mrs Brigitte Grenfeldt). The butterflies were of course inspired by the sketch too.

Papers used on this are, going from bottom up;

Basic Grey, reverse side of a paper from the "Piccadilly" collection (delish whitish shabby pattern)
The ScrapCake, reverse side of a paper from the "Sweet Childhood" collection (palest greenish tealish)
Bazzil white cardstock
KaiserCraft, reverse side of a paper from the "Pickled Pear" collection (whitish board)

Here I've used the Blue Fern Studios chipboard The Garden Window without the shutters.

I used loads of brown and grey distress ink and floods of gold mist on it.

I was also inspired by the keys in the third photo of the mood board and the flowers of course.

Lush and opulent pearls, lace, gold netting, gold acrylic paint and LOTS of Glimmer Glaze in Icicle, Palo Verde and Misty Green as well as Glimmer Glam in Chandelier and Twinkling H2O in Gold and and Lindy's Stampgang Seaglass Green. All of these were used throughout the whole page.

Here I used the Blue Fern Studios Quatrefoil Garden Panel under the top cluster. It was treated in the same way as The Garden Window.

Wish you could see this IRL, the shimmering effect is if I may say so myself, dazzling.

The fussy-cut butterflies are from a paper by Inkido. I painted them in Glimmer Glaze Icicle and Glimmer Glam Chandelier for shimmer and stiffness.

Et voilà, that's it! I have also made a second more liberal take on the SATW July challenge which I will share with you next week.

During July my blog posts will be weekly instead of bi-weekly or tri-weekly as they have been during May and June.

Scrap Around The World July challenge - "On Wings of Love"

Hello there friends of Scrap Around The World!  


We present you with our exquisite mood board for July, created by talented Design Team member Keren Tamir, together with a lovely sketch from our resident sketch designer, Jules McKenna-De Lumen!

All you need to do is be inspired by the mood board (in ANY way) & use our sketch as your starting point. 

No need to tell us HOW the board inspired you if it is OBVIOUS, otherwise please let us know - a couple of lines explanation is all that is vital for us).

How to use our mood boards

Our mood boards are for your INSPIRATION only.  

You can be inspired by one of the images, all of the images, or any number of them, or even parts thereof. 

For example:- on this board you may be inspired by the colours (either all of them or just one, two or more) but you do not have to use any colours on the board if you don't want to.  Other aspects of the mood board that could inspire you are, for example, the pleating/draping of the curtains, the soft organza type fabric, the chandelier, flower clusters, wood(from the table) the green from the grass, the misty background in the first image that could prompt the use of vellum or baking paper, hearts, ribbon, rafia, wreath elements, keys, clear elements, 'door-knob' type embellishments, corsets, dress-forms, floral vines, moulded resin embellishments & frames!

It's entirely up to you!  Be Inspired in any way!!

How to use our sketches

As you would any other sketch.  We would like to see that it definitely inspired you & was your 'starting point' but you can 'make it your own' by flipping it, turning it, inverting it & moving things about if you like.  You can also change the photo orientation and number of photos to be as few or as many as you like.

Skissedilla sketch 217 - "Sunset" - and a birthday card.

Hello friends near and far! 

This is a pre-scheduled post as life has once again called me to the side of a friend in dire need. Things we take for granted every single day, such as our health and another day tomorrow are not necessarily there for us to have when tomorrow comes. I will be back in about a week.
