The Color Room #120 and Stockholm

A very good sign of me being relaxed is when I have no clue as to what day of the week it is. Have to check the date on the computer and watch the news on telly. Another good tip is the release of The Color Room, always on a Friday morning our time.

It's the third week of our July sponsors The ScrapCake and the palette is a darling one of light green, petal pink, eggshell blue and barely beige. Have a peek!

Without further ado, here's my take;
 #120_Puss Puss 700px main
The papers used are of course from The ScrapCake, but also a mix of Swedish Maja Design and Norwegian Vibeke Spigseth from my stash.
 #120_Puss Puss - 2
The pic is from our wedding back in 2000 and yes, 12 years on we have all changed. Emelie, then an awkwardly long-legged tweenie, is now a beautiful and still long-legged 23-year-old beauty with a complexion to die for.
 #120_Puss Puss - 3
Prima mask and modelling paste.
 #120_Puss Puss - 4
 Modelling paste and gel beads for some random texture.
 #120_Puss Puss - 5
Torn and punched paper strips, torn lace doily and some fussy cutting in the layers.

Nope, no food for imagination here - the title means KISS KISS in Swedish!

Sending you off this beautiful Friday with some photos from the Old Town of Stockholm, it is the oldest part of our city and is more than 1 200 years old.

I used to live 2 blocks up this street that runs across the whole island that is the Old Town. Gamla Stan 3 sommaren 2012

 Gamla Stan 4 sommaren 2012
This is my girlfriend's daughter. She summer works in a cute old-fashioned store where the make hand-made candy and fudge.
 Gamla Stan 2 sommaren 2012
Well, anything remotely linked to vikings sends hoards of hmm ... visitors into frenzied photo shoots and hysterical giggles ... Took a lot of coaxing and a couple of kisses to make my man put on this helmet and I can understand him. Wouldn't be seen alive in that thing!

Happy Friday to ya all!

3 pages for CSI # 28

Good morning peeps!

Stockholm has woken up to a cloudy Wednesday. Yesterday the sun suddenly disappeared and we had rain and hail coming down in sheets! It's been a miserable summer so far in most parts of our country, harvests are rotting away and our legs have none of the longed-for summer tan. No wonder all the travel agencies have sold out on all the trips to southern Europe!

Have to bring out some imaginative sun and fun in my scrappy nook instead!

CSI case file # 28 was released last Friday. It being the National Ice Cream Month in the US, we continue with the theme. Here's the case file for you;

Beautiful printable coordinates created by our Michele Singh to match;

The colours are not what I would normally choose and it took me quite a bit of procrastination before I made the following 3 pages. The first one is painfully clean for my taste so I had to make a second one with more layers. Even that one felt rather too clean so I simply had to make a third featuring more layers.

Rather old papers from Theresa Collins.

My husband is an incurable hoarder and has a BIG box with his stash of old toys from his childhood. His absolute faves are his robots. Not the ones in the photo, they only serve as a visual reminder of the little boy that is hiding inside my man and who comes out when anything remotely technical pops up anywhere.

Here the papers used are from Echo Park. Even if the photos are of Miss T, the daughter of my DH's youngest cousin, they actually represent me.

I absolutely LOVE roller coasters and any kind of swirling, rolling, swinging attractions found in an amusement park. It's me and the kids riding, DH stands at the entrance and holds my handbag. I can do it over and over again without getting woozy or feeling sick. 28 Besties 700px main
This page is all about how silly girls of a certain age can be about anything. No adult understands what makes them tick or what sends them off into hysterical giggles. Miss T's mother told me how she and her bestie found a visit to the Museum of Natural Science mighty amusing, especially when seeing eeky stuff in glass jars.

The papers used on this page are G45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe which have really quirky and odd details. Just like the eeky stuff in the museum, catching the curiosity of tweenies.

Ahhh satisfaction achieved - flowers!

Brads are from BG Curio.

Washed everything with diluted cream acrylic paint and a sponge to tone down the rather sharp amber hue.

My stepdaughter Emelie, who works as a camera man for Swedish television, has some time off today from the production she's currently working on. Wants to spend her precious time off with her old nana (MIL) and us, isn't that so sweet of her. As nana didn't get to meet her only grandchild on her birthday last weekend,  we're splashing out on another lunch followed by coffee and cake of course. Taking them to a really fabulous café in town, very quirky eclectic furnishing and THE yummiest pastry! no scrunching on the whipped cream, chocolate or fillings ...

Hope the sun is shining on you wherever you may be, have a wonderful rest of the week! Thank you for all your wonderful comment, really really appreciate you taking the time to come for a visit! Mwah!

Cheers! xoxo Eila

My first DT page for OUAS

Veeery excited to share my first DT layout for Once Upon A Sketch! There is such incredible talent represented there that I feel trembles and trepidations each time I think about it.

We are divided into 2 teams; team A has their release on 1st of each month and team B ditto on 15th. Ergo follows that it's time for the team B reveal. This month's theme is FRIEND.

Theme: Friend
We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Friend" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Ideas for journalling: one of your current friends, a childhood friend, an unexpected friendship,what having friends mean for you, a friend that you miss or have lost, family member who is your closest friend, a scrappy/online  friend,  a special person that has touched your life, someone who has helped you out lately, a friend that you couldn't do without, your children's friends / classmates etc., your pet and the friendship you have with it.

We have 2 new featured sponsors this month. The first one is a gorgeous etsy shop by one of our newest Design Team member's Kay Fatula.

Please welcome to Once Upon A...Sketch KAY'S CREATIVE CORNER

Arts & crafts has been my guilty pleasure since the first time I picked up a crayon. With time, my love of crafts ventured into drawing, altering items, painting, stamping & finally scrapbooking. Kay's Kreative Korner was opened in 2009. It began simply as a way of sharing a few of my handmade items. I opened my shop with a couple of handstamped cards & a few pre made scrapbook pages. Within a year, I stopped making cards and decided to sell embellishments--specifically butterflies. I've always admired the butterfly & what it symbolizes. Change, transformation, a new start, beginnings...with this concept I started making scrapbook embellishments based on existing butterflies from all around the world. Today I carry a couple of unique scrapbook embellishments. In addition to the butterflies I specialize in vines & beaded flowers. I make each item with much TLC and careful precison. My greatest reward is seeing how others use my embellishments on thier own projects & pages...

Here is my DT layout for the July challenge on the theme of FRIEND - "Elsi and I"

OUAS 1JULY2012 Elis and I main 3000px
All papers are from Swedish Pion Design's newest collection Grandma's Schoolbook.
 OUAS 1JULY2012 Elsi and I - 2
Elsi and I have been friends for as long as I can remember. I'm the blond on the right and Elsi's on the left. I must have been about 3 years old and Elsi 4, so we're talking 1962. Our families were neighbours and as there were no kindies in those days, my mother had a couple of kids in day care in our home including Elsi.
OUAS 1JULY2012 Elsi and I - 3
Through thick and thin indeed, culprits in many crimes involving mum's cookie jar :))
OUAS 1JULY2012 Elsi and I - 4
Cut a very old Prima vine in two and placed on either side of the photo as a sapling/bush.

LOVE that felt/doily/hessian/button yummy embellishment from Charm Koch's Facebook shop. One has to keep an eye out for the date/time that she releases her batches, they sell quicker than you can wink! It is also possible to place pre-orders if you have an invitation from Charm.

I had a lovely day with Patrici Cugnod and her beautiful family showing them some highlights of my home town. As they are staying for a whole week, they will have plenty of time to check out this and that. Here is first Patricia and her hubby Pascale:
And then their niece Clarice (14) on the far left, followed by Armèle (17) in the middle and Ségolène (19) on the far right. Very spunky and fun-loving girls all of them!

In my next post I will share 3 layouts that I made for the CSI Case File # 28, here's a sneak of the colours;
These are SO not my colours and I had some long and serious moments of procrastination before actually making anything. Not happy at all about the result, but that's life sometimes.

Today is Monday in my parts of the world and it's the second week of our summer hols. I haven't disappeared from the surface of earth, just kept the hours by the computer to the very minimum. Still counting to at least 2 hours of commenting in blogland every day and still hardly any traces anywhere that I've been for a visit. Very frustrating I say.

Enough of the neggieness, here's to sunshine, icecream and a thick yummo book!

Take care, have fun! xoxo Eila
