UOAS 1MAR2012 Every Day Moments and CSI #9 Mother

Life has a way of reminding that it should be lived right here and now when we start thinking too far ahead. So I heard you Life and spent the weekend doing nice things with DH and friends. Eating far too much and exploring the bounties of the vineyards of our good earth :))

Yesterday evening I put the finishing touches to the layout that I had almost finished for the UOAS 1 March challenge last week. First Nadia's pretty sketch and the journalling criteria.

Journalling Criteria/Theme: All About Me!

The focus of your journalling and the theme of your layout has to be based on YOU and something/s that you are really good at.

Ideas for journalling: being a good mum, cooking, talking, understanding people, organising, cleaning, gardening, studying, computers, fashion, exercising, scrapbooking, good at my job, maths, languages, writing , drawing, painting, photography, running, craft, sewing. Maybe you can talk about an aspect of your personality..your sensitivity, your 6th sense, your patience, your strength or bravery, your ability to stay positive.

I know we women tend to under estimate ourselves in so many ways, it's always easier to say what we are NOT good at than the other way around. I immediately knew what my journalling would be.

OUAS 1MAR2012 Every Day Moments main 4000px

All the papers are from Teresa Collins new collection called Every Day Moments. I was looking for alphas for my title when I saw the pretty die cut like title and simply cut it out from the packaging. That's exactly what I am good at; seeing the little every day moments and the little people who are not noticed.

The photo is of my husband's youngest cousin's two daugthers, Miss T comforting her little sister Miss M. Eventhough it's not of myself, it really shows that if you are bigger/older you have to be kind and gentle to the smaller/younger and more vulnerable ones. Just look how she holds her arm around her little sister! One can almost hear her comforting words.

The birds are also cut out from one of the papers.

Some new Prima's.

OUAS 1MAR2012 Every Day Moments-6

I am fibbing with this tag, the journalling is actually on plain manilla tags that I've placed on the back of my page.

OUAS 1MAR2012 Every Day Moments-7

The journalling says;

"I am very good at seeing the "little" people who get ignored because they are quiet and not interesting enough. I always have time to chat with the office cleaner and make it my business

OUAS 1MAR2012 Every Day Moments-8

cont'd.

to know their names. I always have a kind word, a smile and thank them for doing a great job. People come to me when they are sad, worried and just need a "hello".

I am one of these "little" people myself and I know how it feels to be ignored or considered to be too insignificant to be worth a smile or a nod. When I order chocolates for Easter or for Christmas, I always make sure to have some extra boxes that I give to the support staff in our office. They work so hard without getting a thank you for it. Do I need to say that my desk area is always the cleanest on the floor, or that I get personal favours from the girls at our reception? They are invaluable to me and they know I genuinely mean it.

A tag and brad from one of the new MME collections and some more new Prima's.

9_Mother main 4000 px

These photos are not my own, I found them in different places on internet. They caught my eye because they were so very much what I have tried to convey with my page.

10_Mother - 2

The chippie heart and wings arefrom Maxines Melange, now closed for business. The brass key is from Meg's Garden as is the metal trinket.

10_Mother - 3

Childhood memories of baked buns and rhubarb or raspberry juice.

10_Mother - 4

The little memory sentences shed light on the photos.

10_Mother - 5

The photo of the hands holding the little chick is just what mothers do; they hold us in their hands till we are ready to fly. I don't think I have to explain what the flower wreath in the shape of a heart stands for.

10_Mother - 6

10_Mother-7

Beautiful organza flower from Meg's Garden. Gorgeous fuchsia skeleton leaves all the way from South Africa and darling Helen Tilbury. Mwah on ya!

10_Mother-8

Sorry for the barrage of photos, hope you just scrolled down when you got bored with them.

Wonderful having you for a visit, hope to see you again! Have a lovely week and take care, see you on Sunday! I'll be travelling down to the south of Sweden on Thursday for a seminar and an AGM. Really looking forward to meeting the gals again. Lots of catching up to do.

TCR #101 Every Day Luxury (Vardagslyx) and my first page for Meg's Garden

Happy Friday to everyone!! don't we all feel like we deserve something extra just because and for no other reason that it simply feels good to be pampered. Said and done, I took hubbs out for drinks and dinner yesterday evening! Felt like a teenager holding hands and just having a lovely time. The sweet man said we ought to go on impromptu dates more often!

Friday also means it's release time over at TCR and now we've come to palette #101 and the second week of Pion Design's sponsor month. Once again lovely Jenny has provided papers for us in the DT to play with and this week its the collection "Studio of Memories" that has set the colours of the palette;

Vintage Pansy, Velvet Mauve, Antique Blue and Powder Puff - soooo soft and pretty!

I went all girly and very much Her Room:

#101_Every Day Luxury main 4000px

Once again the photo is not mine, I found it on internet. The title of my page "Vardagslyx" translates into Every Day Luxury and it refers to what's in the photo; a huge cup of coffee with whipped cream, a heart shaped little cake that all Swedes know by the name of Vanilla Heart as it's filled with vanilla cream that fills your mouth with deliciousness when you bite into it, and a gorgeously scented candle and flowers.

I had a tough moment of hyperventilation when I was about to glue the last butterfly into place and the top of the glue bottle just flew off with a pop and the whole bottom of my page was covered in a gigantic pool of white GLUE! I almost burst into tears but started frantically to wipe off what I could. It turned out the canvas flowers actually got a nice squashed look to them as I could mold the petals when they were gluey. What I couldn't wipe off, dried clear. PHEW!

#101_Every Day Luxury-2

Fussy cutting of course. I've tried to photograph the yummie texture that I got by first applying Gesso, then modelling paste, then pressing a floral brocade stamp both into the paste and outside it. When it was still wet, I sprinkled Shimmerz enamels in Jack Frost onto it and zapped the whole thing with my embossing gun. Then I misted it in TA Fall Breeze and Sand. The effect is just fantastic IRL, too bad it never ever photographs true.

#101_Every Day Luxury-3

I manhandled snippets of brown lace with my scissors, one of the pale blue Prima flowers and a couple of my absolute faves at the moment; velvet mini forget-me-nots in dusty antique blue from Meg's Garden. I put them everywhere at the moment, they are absolutely to die for!

The bits that I cut off from the lace, I simply glued onto the top of the photo like this. The stamped double border that runs around the whole page and on the photo as well as next to the photo, is new from MME.

Some more of the background and the gluey squished flowers.

My first layout as DT member at Meg's Garden was posted on the Meg's Garden blog earlier this week. The theme for March is Victorian/Vintage/or French and my page is Victorian. Here it is:

Victorian main 4000px

I have based the whole page on this paper called "French Garden" from Meg's Garden:

The "frame" is cut out from a paper from KaiserCraft Bonjour collection.

Victorian 2

Just love the image of the fountain with the doves, so perfect to gather a mixed floral cluster leaning to it. I adore those voluptuous garnet velvet violets from Meg's Garden. Just taste that word, feels like something from the "Phantom of the Opera"!

Victorian 3

The chippie window is from DA. I primed it in white acrylic paint, patted it in Tim Holtz Vintage Photo, randomly dabbed it in TA crackle paint in Peeled Paint, smeared on some Stickles Gold, brushed on some brown acrylic paint and some more white acrylic paint till I was happy with the result.

The chippie flourish is from Meg's, it got the same treatment as the window. The "curtain" is wide lace from Meg's that I have cut in half horizontally and misted in TA Old Lace, Rose Tea and Crème de Rouge.

The clock face is also from Meg's. I have mounted it on a trinket from Bo Bunny, but first I painted the face of the trinket in brown acrylic paint and traced the oval shape in Stickles Gold to make it look like a wall clock.

A mini gold tassel also from Meg's.

Victorian 4

Those g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s feathers in claret come all the way frrom South Africa and are a gift from my sweet scrappy friend, the one and only Helen Tilbury. A lot more coming up from the same wonderful gift in pages to come! Thank you darling for all the beautiful goodies!

The crystal stick pins and that mauve velvet pansy also come from the treasure trove at Meg's.

Victorian 5

Victorian 6

Victorian 7

Et voilà, Mon Jardin Francais!

Dinner today is pizza, no fancy pansy Cordon Bleu.

Have a fabbo weekend! toodelipip!

TCR 100th palette - part II "A Scent of Love" and CSI DT call

Not much else done so far this week but work, work and work some more. Now I know what I'll be doing on 1-2 October this year - another conference!

My DT mate Gayle Price over at Meg's Garden, is a fabulously talented scrapper. She makes the most amazing pages, always designed with a beautiful eye for balance and the most stunning details. The other day Gayle sent me an email with love all the way from Australia, she awarded me the Liebster Award.

How incredibly amazing is this, within the span of only a couple of weeks I have received 3 Liebster Awards; from Liva Kalnina in Latvia, Helen Tilbury in South Africa and now Gayle Price in Australia. I am so touched by your kindness ladies, thank you infinitely!! Mwah!

In my previous post I wrote that in celebration of The Color Room's 100th palette, I had made two pages. One I shared with you in that post and here comes the second one that I have called "A Scent of Love".

Swedish Pion Design are our March sponsors and Jenny, the owner, has very very generously provided us in the DT with 4 different collections to work with. The current palette #100 is based on the collection called "From My Heart II". Fabulous red, pink, pale blue and cream. Shabby divine chic!

#100_A Scent of Love main 4000px

#100_A Scent of Love -2

The chippie flourish is from Dusty Attic. I just painted it a couple of times with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam in Espresso Bean before adding the embellies. The dimensional "handmade" sticker is from Norwegian Tilda.

Punched border that I ripped off in places and chalked with a rather heavy hand in Chestnut Roan.

#100_A Scent of Love -3

Strips of lace and cut out paper strips from one of the papers. Some stamping in script and floral scrollwork in the background.

#100_A Scent of Love -4

The most adorable cut out stamps from one of the papers and a dimensional thread spool sticker from Norwegian Tilda.

#100_A Scent of Love - 5

With the number of pages that I produce each month, I am quickly running out of photos. Not much getting photographed now during winter so I go out on internet to find photos. This one is not my own.

#100_A Scent of Love -6

Fussy cut roses form a frame.

#100_A Scent of Love - 7

I used a doily to mist in brown on the backing paper and then I ripped it in strips and used it under the floral cluster. The label is from one of the papers. The glass jar dimensional sticker is also from Norwegian Tilda. The little cherub stuck in there is fussy cut from one of the papers.

Next we are heading over to CSI where we are having a DT call! If you're tickled by multi-dimensional challenges, this is the place for you!

Deadline for the last case file is 8 April. Please have a read of the details below.

It's getting late over here and if I don't claim my pillow soon, the bedbugs will certainly bite me! Thanks for your visit!

Hopefully our papers will give you many creative and happy moments!

Many of you have come across the wonderful, soft and romantic papers of Pion either on internet or perhaps IRL too. "Pion" means peony and I often have English speaking people ask me how on earth it is supposed to be pronounced. First of all, forget anything remotely close to "P-Y-O-N" or "S-I-O-N". Remember, Swedish is a Germanic language where the letters are pronounced individually, not pulled together like in English.

So here goes: P-E-E-O-O-N.  (the P-E-E is pronounced exactly like the English word spelled in the same way *wink wink* and the O-O-N exactly like S-W-O-O-N with a long O sound)

I made two pages for this 100th palette, but will share one with you today and the other one on Tuesday.

First the palette and inspo photo:

Yummie! just taste the names: Truffle, Forget-Me-Not, Rose Garden and Vintage Pink! Oh là là!

This is the first of my pages for the 100th palette:

#100B_ Mother's Heart main 4000px

First of all I want to say that the photo is not my own, I found it on internet. I just fell for the soft feel of the little chap sitting there by the sea in his denim dungarees.

#100B_Mother's Heart - 3

#100B_ Mother's Heart-3

The chippie thread spools are from Australian Maxine's Melange which has now closed down business. The lace is from Panduro as are the wooden buttons. I used a small doily from Meg's Garden to mist subtle patterns but it doesn't come across at all when photographed. Then I ripped it in pieces and tucked them under the cluster. The cherub with a string of hearts is cut out from one of the papers.

#100B_Mother's Heart-4

Several sheets with absolutely adorable things to cut out; banners, titles, letters, butterflies, Valentine's images like this one, vintage stamps, borders etc.

Today both hubby and I took a day off from work, switched off our mobiles and forgot everything about emails. The day started with de luxe breakfast at a very modern but really cosy hotel by the water in central Stockholm. It has been a sunny day with blue skies, but the March wind was very cold and nippy.

Strandvägen 2MAR2012

This is a view over the poshest street in our town; Strandvägen. Wherever you go in Stockholm, you see water and some more water and believe it or not, but around the next block you'll see - water!

Strandvägen 2MAR2012-2

Spring is definitely on its way but in the farthest covest the ice hasn't quite melted yet.

Now we're nearing the end of this post, so with these happy faces of husband and wife I say bye bye and thanks for your kind visit!
